CERTIFYING BODY

Association for Talent Development (ATD)

A membership organization that offers content through programs, research and events and hosts several conferences a year for talent development professionals.

TIMING/LOCATION

  • Earn certification in six to nine months
  • Complete and pass two in-person exams at a designated testing center, scheduled around registration deadlines and testing windows
  • 40 percent pass rate on the final exam
  • Preparatory work timing varies based on candidate selection
  • There are no prerequisites for candidacy
  • The Training Industry team facilitates preparation and support through the program and beyond

SUPPORT

RECERTIFICATION

  • Free and paid recertification opportunities can be found upon individual search
  • 60 recertification points required every three years
  • Can apply to recertify during a certification cycle upon completion of recertification points
  • Program is a one time fee of $3,495 per individual
  • Cost includes the prework modules, the practicum, and two additional attempts at the final exam, if needed
  • Receive access to research and information including e-elearning modules and study guides, even after becoming certified

COSTS

  • Earning the CPLP can include a number of à la carte options
  • Exams are $1,250 per individual, per attempt
  • Resources such as preparation courses and materials are sold separate and range in price
  • Study guides are available at an additional cost with the option to renew subscription each month
